Permanent hair removal with IPL technology

IPL method was developed to go beyond the limitations of laser technology. It is the most effective permanent hair removal method today! Fewer treatments are needed to achieve the desired results than with laser technology. With one pulse, laser treats a significantly smaller area (max. 1.44 cm²), while IPL-machines treat 6.4 cm². The wavelength of the light cannot be changed with lasers, which means that its parameters cannot be adjusted to the skin type and hair colour, but with pulsed light treatments this can be achieved.

Hair removal Hair follicles are found on every area of our body except for the palms and the soles. Each hair follicle has its own lifecycle: the formation and growth of hairs, followed by a quiescent phase, and then the growth of new hair from the same follicle. This cycle has three phases: growth (anagen), regression (catagen), and quiescence (telogen).

Anagen is the longest phase and up to 90% of follicles on a normal human scalp are in this active hair growth state at any given time. Hairs grow by an average 0.35 mm per day, the extent of the growth depending on the location of the follicles and on age and sex. We can say that 20-25% of the hair follicles – on other areas of your body except for your scalp– are in the anagen growth phase.

In the anagen, or growth phase, there is enough melanin produced in the hair follicles to absorb the light that in turn destroys them. As approximately 20-25% of the hair follicles on your body are in the anagen phase at a given time, one treatment is only enough to destroy 20-25% of the entire number of the hair follicles.

This hair removal method brings permanent results but it is far from perfect, because only the active (hair-producing) hair follicles can be treated. It might happen that a hair follicle starts to produce hairs only after the treatment. Hair follicles in the telogen phase cannot be destroyed.

Expected results
After several hair removal treatments women experience that max. 90% of the hairs permanently disappear, while 10% of the remaining hairs grow thinner and lighter in colour. Men, whose hair is stronger experience that about 70-80% of the hairs permanently disappear, the rest grow thinner and lighter in colour. The treatment

Hair removal The treatments are all non-invasive; they are safe with only a few side-effects. Patients may experience a slight burning and itching sensation during the treatments, but this is only temporary. The patient does not experience unpleasant sensations permanently. Before the treatment we clean the area to be treated with water and let it dry. During the treatment the patient wears protective glasses. .

The duration of the treatment depends on the treated area and the application. Treatments last from 10 minutes to a maximum of 2 hours. The number of treatments needed depends on the patient’s hormone levels, so age, sex and skin colour are all important factors here: younger patients, patients with a darker skin tone, and men usually need more treatments.
From the first treatment until the end of the treatments, the patient has to use sunscreen when going outdoors because a smaller inflammation occurs on the treated areas and inflamed skin is more prone to tanning than undamaged skin.

During the treatment (that is, starting with the month before the first treatment until the time of the last treatment) the treated areas should not be waxed, plucked, or the hairs pulled out with any other method, because thermal energy is transferred to the appropriate place by the hairs. Patients have to come to the treatment with a minimum of 2-3 mm hair length, so do not shave your body right before the treatments! Treatments can be carried out every 4-6 weeks because of the hair growth cycle.

Cannot be treated:

anyone who takes medicine or herbs that make them sensitive to light;
anyone who has epilepsy, Lupus or Porphyria;
pregnant women or women who plan pregnancy;
a woman who has given birth within the past month or is currently breastfeeding;
anyone suffering from a tumour disease;
a person who has been tanning themselves in sunlight, used a sun bed, or used self-tanning products within 3 weeks before starting the treatment;
a person who has taken isotretinoin within the 6 months before the treatment;
a person who takes anti-coagulants;
a person who is prone to the formation of keloids;
anyone who has vitiligo spots on the area to be treated;
anyone who has active herpes on the area to be treated;
anyone who has eczema on the area to be treated;
