About Botox treatment in general

Botox is a popular method of wrinkle reduction: it's quick, painless and the results are spectacular. Botox treatment is suitable for treating wrinkles between the eyebrows (the glabella), forehead wrinkles, crow's feet, crow's feet (the wrinkle on the nose) and smoker's lines.

Naturally occurring Botulinum A toxin works by inhibiting the movement of the mimic muscles in the face, which lasts for about 3-6 months after Botox treatment. During the botox treatment, the specialist injects an appropriate amount of botulinum toxin into the mimic muscles involved in the formation of wrinkles using a very thin needle.

For a few hours after the botox treatment, you should not sunbathe, sunbathe, massage the treated area, rub the hair, or do strenuous physical work.

The botox treatment relaxes the treated muscles and wrinkles are smoothed out five days after the treatment. The procedure itself takes about 15-20 minutes and can be repeated several times a year.

Botox treatment can also be used to eliminate increased sweating in the armpits, palms and soles. The treatment reduces sweating in the treated area by 80-90% and this effect lasts for 6-8 months.

It cannot be treated with Botox:

  • during pregnancy or breast-feeding,

  • in certain neurological diseases,

  • during treatment with certain antibiotics,

  • known hypersensitivity to the active substance of botox.

A temporary and effective solution

Ageing, heredity, muscle movement, sun exposure and gravity all play a role in the development of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. Facial expressions are accompanied by severe muscle contraction, and over time this leads to the development of frown lines, crow's feet, and vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows. These wrinkles and folds can now be effectively temporarily eliminated with BOTOX injections directly into the muscle.

What is Botulinum A toxin?

Botulinum A toxin refers to targeted injections that relax muscles whose contraction leads to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. The result is smoother, more youthful skin. BOTOX is a registered trademark of Allergan.

How does it work?

Muscles contract when they receive electrical signals from a transmitter called acetylcholine, which tells them to move. These repeated contractions can cause grooves and wrinkles in the skin. Botulinum toxin type A blocks the production of acetylcholine so the muscle does not receive the command to contract. Once this happens, the skin immediately smoothes out. Botulinum A toxin is one of the safest and most widely sought after cosmetic products today, when used under medical supervision.

What are the side effects of Botulinum A toxin treatment?

Botulinum A toxin injections are very well tolerated by the skin, with few side effects. Some patients may experience a mild headache after treatment, but this is quite rare.

How do I know that I am being treated with the "real" Botulinum A toxin?

At Medaid we only use genuine Vistabel and Dysport products.

What results can I expect after Botulinum A toxin treatment?

Botulinum A toxin can be used to treat wrinkles on the crow's feet, between the eyebrows and on the forehead. Several small injections are applied directly to the affected area, and the effect is seen after about 24-48 hours. The results vary from patient to patient, but most often the effects of Botox treatment last for 3-6 months. For some patients, it can last up to 8 months. The results depend on individual differences such as age, skin type and the area to be treated (the full effect takes 1-2 weeks).

Is Botox treatment painful?

The Botox treatment can be uncomfortable, but the needle is extremely thin, so this sensation is minimal. Botox treatment is very quick, the patient will experience a sensation similar to a tiny pinch for a few seconds. The treated area may become red, but this disappears after a few hours.
