IPL flash skin rejuvenation

There are basically two types of skin rejuvenation procedures that can be performed with lasers. One is the so-called non-ablative procedure (such as IPL, flash skin rejuvenation), where the light does not damage the skin surface, but penetrates the epidermis and dermis, treating and renewing the epidermis and dermis.

Flash skin rejuvenation requires several treatments, in a series of courses, to achieve the best results. For optimum results, 4-6 flash skin rejuvenation treatments are required at four-week intervals. So-called ablative laser procedures include, for example, fractional laser peels.

IPL flash skin rejuvenation now offers the possibility of rejuvenating and smoothing the skin without damaging the skin surface. Unlike laser skin resurfacing, microdermabrasion or chemical peels, the treatment does not remove the top layers of skin, so flash skin rejuvenation does not involve peeling or scarring.

During the rejuvenation process, the high-energy light causes an increase in the amount of collagen fibres, so that the skin regains its tone, elasticity and firmness. The Flash Skin Rejuvenation treatment series provides visible improvements to photo-damaged skin: it removes dilated capillaries, reduces discolouration and stimulates the fibre network of the subcutaneous connective tissue, eliminating fine lines.

• Direct sun exposure should be avoided, sunscreen should be used and tanning should be prohibited for 2 weeks!

• Avoid hot water, cleanse your skin gently with lukewarm water and apply a suitable moisturiser the night after your treatment.

• Cold aloe vera cream can be used to reduce the feeling of dryness.

Some skin tightening techniques, such as ultrasound, radiofrequency treatment, which only improve the texture of the skin, can be combined well with IPL flash skin rejuvenation. Flash skin rejuvenation can be used on the face, neck, chest and back of the hands.

Flash skin rejuvenation is mainly recommended for people who do not want to stay at home for weeks after plastic surgery to maintain their beauty, cannot miss work or want to rejuvenate their skin without the knowledge of their wider community.

Untreatable:

• who have sunbed or tanning bed exposure within 2 weeks before treatment,

• has diabetes,

• is pregnant,

• suffering from a light-stimulable disease,

• suffering from cancer,

• suffer from epilepsy,

• who is taking photosensitising medicines, herbal remedies,

• who has an active herpes simplex infection in the area to be treated,

• who has a tendency to keloid scarring,

• who have an uncontrolled hormonal disorder,

• taking anticoagulants,

• prone to haemophilia,

• who have an active skin condition in the area to be treated (e.g. psoriasis, eczema).
